Des Moines, Wash. (January 19, 2018)- Laborers’ Local Union 242 held a building dedication and ribbon cutting ceremony at their new union hall at 22323 Pacific Highway South. This new building comes after 106 years at the Seattle Labor Temple and a merger of nearly 5,000 members from Locals 440 and 242.

Members were joined by King County Executive, Dow Constantine, Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan’s office, along with other elected public officials and friends of labor. Following the program, Mayor Jenny Durkan’s office proclaimed January 19th to be Laborers’ Local 242 Day for their
century-long commitment to building the city of Seattle. The ribbon cutting was performed by Local 242 Business Manager, Dale W. Cannon and Washington & Northern Idaho District Council of Laborers Business Manager, Jermaine Smiley.

With the merger of Local 242 and Local 440, we needed the room to grow and our new home gives us that along with the ability to maintain un-waivering commitment to working on behalf of our members and improving their quality of life!”
